In the middle of the city lies a massive park with a little manmade lake for romantic boat strolls like the one that Sara and I took (I suggest having a designated rower with upper arm strength--really though). Being Sunday there were people EVERYwhere and it was just lovely! I was once told that Spaniards drink less but more often--false. They drink the same amount but more often...which poses the question: will I ever leave?!;) Not to mention, I have already discovered a Thai and Mexican restaurant so I think I am set for life! I have fallen in love (again) with the culture and lifestyle here and it has been a mere four days!
Although in Spain there are no 'you deserve it' drinks (what a silly thought--you always 'deserve' a drink!), I will say one last time that we had some 'well-deserved' drinks after finding a piso (apartment) after four days!! If you are wondering what it is like to search for an apartment in Spain, picture searching in the U.S. but in Spanish, looking at internet sites until your eyes hurt and walking around and looking for 'se aquila' (for sale) signs and calling the numbers listed and asking (in Spanish of course) if the apartment is still available and setting up a time to look at it. That is my way of explaining that it is not easy. We lucked out big time and after looking at a couple of pisos a friend of ours found an apartment and kindly let us go in his place for an appointment that he had for the following day. And just like that we are living a few blocks up from Gran Vía in a quaint two-bedroom apartment in the heart (and hotspot) of Madrid--BOOM!:). It is teeny tiny but I love every little square inch! AND there is a futon...ahem...any takers??
I am going to show up and lay on that futon when you least expect it!!!
