| Made it!!:) |
One of my goals this year was to make it back at least once to the gorgeous city of Segovia where I studied abroad a few summer’s ago. So naturally, I was beyond excited when we started planning our trip and decided that we needed to take a day-trip to Segovia so Scottie could see where I studied while I got to re-visit the endless memories and sights in a city that I once called home.:)
Our day started off with a little over an hour bus ride north of Madrid. As we were entering Segovia I couldn’t hold back my excitement—my face pressed to the window while simultaneously squealing and pointing to where I used to live, where I walked to school, etc., etc. I think Scottie was almost (if not just as) excited as I was to be there and explore this quaint, beautiful town that will always have a small place in my heart.

We began at the oh-so-impressive aqueduct in the center of the city, which was constructed solely by stone and has NOTHING in between each stone holding them together—UH-mazing! I fulfilled my promise that I made when I studied abroad—when you touch the aqueduct with both hands you are promising to return someday! Check!:)
From the aqueduct we followed a street that takes you by my old school and eventually leads to a plaza where you will find the gorgeous cathedral and a short walk past that, Alcázar, the castle of Segovia. After a photo shoot in front of my school we walked to the cathedral, stood there for a few minutes taking in the beautiful views, snapped some photos, and continued on towards the castle.

From the front of the castle it is difficult to appreciate just how gorgeous it is so we went on a wild adventure down into the woods in search of the best view. Our first journey brought us to a field where we often went when I studied abroad, which has both a wonderful view and a great open area to sit and relax and take in the sights. After spending some time relaxing and goofing around we took off for our second adventure through the woods to take in more views of the castle as well as Segovia as a whole. We looped back into the city eventually and enjoyed every second spent walking around and taking in the sights along the way.

Unfortunately, due to the timing of our day trip we weren’t able to go to a couple of restaurants I had in mind that I wanted Scottie to see (In particular, a bar called Oso Blanco that has the most sugary and delicious sangria drinks that I have ever had!), but I suppose that just means that we will have to go back someday;)…or become experts at making sangria. Probably both. Regardless, it was SO wonderful to re-visit Segov and have such wonderful company to share it with! Our trip was AMAZING and we both had the best time exploring my old stomping grounds and making new memories along the way.:)
